COLUMBUS - The Platte County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday morning to discuss the action on a pavement proposal for county roads. The three streets getting proposals for a pavement upgrade are; 445th Ave. north of Highway 91, 280th Ave, 340th St. west from 445th Ave. (including one mile into Boone County), and 53rd St. and 3rd Ave. Supervisor James F. Scow says its important to focus the funds on the roads that need work and it is better to start now before the roads worsen. Platte County previously got together with the State of Nebraska Roads Department to develop a long-term road plan, making it possible to upgrade all the necessary area roads. http://media3.floodradio.com/columbus/2015/09/SOT-1.mp3 Board Supervisor, James F. Scow “Our Road and Bridge Committee is doing a great job of doing an analysis of those so we can keep our structures to the point where they are going to handle the traffic now and going down the road,” Scow says. The board is looking to get the proposals in before March of this year for construction to begin. http://media3.floodradio.com/columbus/2015/09/SOT-2.mp3 “Agriculture is the biggest industry we have, and the county has responsibility for the roads in this county and we need to make sure that we prepare those roads the best we can and use our resources as intelligently as we can,” Scow states.
