COLUMBUS - The CHS varsity volleyball team falls to Aurora after a tough match Tuesday evening.
The Discoverers fell to the Huskies in four sets, losing the first set 25-21 before winning the second set 25-20. Senior Elli McMeekin led the team in scoring with 20 points and two aces, with 13 of those points coming in the first two sets.
CHS Head Coach Heidi Field says she was really impressed with the teams effort to get 12 kills in the second set, and says the first two sets might have been the best they've played all year.
“You know we had one serving string, that they kind of got in on us, and we really needed to turn that back around, and I think we just kind of lost it mentally and did't quite capture it back,” says Field, “so that was tough, I did like to see them compete those first two sets, that was nice to see.”
CHS would drop the last two sets 25-15 and 25-7 and now fall to 2-3 on the season. The Discoverers next match will take place at the Norris Invite this Saturday.
