NORFOLK - A timely performance from a freshman helped the Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Bulldogs move to the C2-5 subdistrict finals. Taya Beller notched a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds as the Bulldogs (16-7) remained balanced and took down Lutheran High Northeast (7-13) 60-40 on Tuesday night in Norfolk. The freshman scored eight of her 11 points in the first half as Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family built a 20-10 lead after the first quarter and took a 35-17 lead into halftime. The Bulldogs couldn't quite shake the Eagles until late in the third quarter however, as Lutheran High Northeast closed the gap to 40-30 with just over two minutes remaining in the period. However Tarrin Beller's three-pointer and a basket by Morgan Frauendorfer pushed the lead back to 15 by the end of the third quarter and the Bulldogs never looked back. Tarrin Beller would finish with a game-high 16 points while Frauendorfer added 14 and Emily Preister also scored 14 points to lead Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family into the C2-5 finals against Stanton on Thursday night. The Bulldogs will look to avenge a 58-49 defeat at the hands of the Mustangs on January 2, the only matchup between the two teams this season. The Eagles stayed in the contest through another strong effort from Bridgett Knobbe, as the junior finished with 16 points, including three three-pointers. Lutheran High Northeast would connect on seven three-pointers for the game, but couldn't overcome 21 turnovers and a strong post presence from the Bulldogs. Jacey Kant also hit three three-pointers to finish with nine points, while Sam Freidrich finished with five points off the bench as the Eagles saw their season come to an end. Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family will face Stanton on Thursday night in the C2-5 subdistrict finals, which you can hear on NCN Radio 94.7 at 7:00 p.m. with the pre-game show starting at 6:45 p.m. BULLDOGS 20 15 10 15 60 EAGLES 10 7 13 10 40 HUMPHREY/LINDSAY HOLY FAMILY (16-7) Tarrin Beller 16 points, Morgan Frauendorfer 14, Emily Preister 14, Taya Beller 11, Jenna Beller 2, Molly Dohman 2, Brooke Johnson 1 LUTHERAN HIGH NORTHEAST (7-13) Bridgett Knobbe 16 points, Jacey Kant 9, Sam Freidrich 5, Beth Skoglund 3, Kortni Kasik 3, Emma Rosberg 2, Gina Blackman 2
