NELIGH - A Tilden man is facing nine charges after he allegedly tried to cause a head-on collision during a police chase east of Neligh on Friday night.
According to the Nebraska State Patrol, Scott B. Blakeman, 53 of Tilden, was arrested following a police chase at 8:20 p.m. on Highway 275 east of Neligh.
Both the State Patrol and the Neligh Police Department were advised to watch for a 2001 Chevy Silverado that was eastbound on Highway 275 from Oakdale. The vehicle turned around and was westbound when Trooper Daniel Parker and Neligh Police Officer Joe McNally intercepted the pickup near mile marker 43 on Highway 275, which is at the top of the hill just east of the Antelope Country Club.
Blakeman allegedly was driving left of center when he failed to yield to law enforcement. The officers followed westbound toward Neligh when the State Patrol said Blakeman turned at the driveway of the City of Neligh's waste water treatment plant and started eastbound once again.
Blakeman allegedly attempted to collide with oncoming traffic head-on. As the low-speed chase pursued, Trooper Parker performed a tactical vehicle intervention near mile marker 43. Blakeman's vehicle went into the south ditch.
The State Patrol said Blakeman was then arrested by Parker and McNally. He was taken to Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh where he refused a blood draw. After being medically cleared, Blakeman was transported to the Antelope County Law Enforcement Center.
Blakeman was charged with driving left of center, driving on the shoulder, obstructing a police officer, resisting arrest, having an open alcohol container in a motor vehicle, driving under the influence, willful reckless driving,
operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest and refusing to commit to a chemical test. - See more at: http://www.myantelopecountynews.com/neligh/tilden-man-allegedly-tried-to-cause-head-on-collision#sthash.S2sUZoIL.dpuf
