COLUMBUS - Shoppers inside grocery stores Super Saver and Hy-Vee had an opportunity to donate to the needy this weekend. The Columbus Noon Rotary Club, Next Generation Kiwanis of Columbus and the Word of Life Youth church all sponsored the Super Bowl Food Drive that was held Friday and Saturday. Christine Arasmith helped collect food at Super Saver, she says that shoppers have definitely been giving their fair share to the needy. “The people of Columbus that have come in, have been very receptive to it, very eager to donate and have been very generous,” says Arasmith. They accepted many different items including cereal, canned foods, pasta and cash donations. After donations the food is spread out among four collectors: The Platte County Food Pantry, Salvation Army, Simon House and the Columbus Rescue Mission.
