Former Husker quarterback Scott Frost is adding some more Big Red to his coaching staff at UCF.
The school officially announcedTuesday the hiring of ex-Nebraska linebacker Barrett Ruud as a quality control associate. Ruud is the second former Husker player Scott has hired since taking the job last month. He added Greg Austin as his offensive line coach on Jan. 6.
Ruud, a Lincoln native and Lincoln Southeast alumnus, played for the Huskers from 2001-04. He was named third team All-American and first team All-Big 12 after his senior season.
Ruud holds the program record with 432 career tackles, and his 86 solo tackles in 2004 is also a Nebraska-best for a single season.
A second-round draft pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2005, Ruud also played for the Tennessee Titans, New Orleans Saints and Houston Texans before exiting the NFL in 2012.
