COLUMBUS - A Columbus youth earns national recognition at one of the largest wrestling tournaments in the country. Colton Wolfe, along with 40 other Nebraska teammates, traveled six and-a-half hours to Fargo North Dakota over the weekend to compete in USA Wrestling's Cadet (15-16 years old) and Junior (17-18 years old) National Championships. The team was comprised of wrestlers from Lincoln, the Omaha-metro area, and other towns across the state. Wolfe was the only Columbus wrestler on the team. The event attracts over 1,000 wrestlers from all 50 states, looking to sharpen their skills against some of the best competition in the nation. An invite to Nationals requires a 1st or 2nd place finish in state USAW tournaments.   In his first trip to Fargo, Wolfe placed 4th overall in the 195 lb. cadet freestyle class, earning himself All American Honors. document.createElement('audio'); http://media3.floodradio.com/columbus/2015/07/wolfe-sot.mp3   “There was great competition up here, a lot of kids that are nationally ranked, and big recruits to big colleges for wrestling,” says Wolfe, “Just gained a lot of confidence in my ability as a wrestler. Placing up here really helps anyones confidence because it's the biggest tournament in the nation.” This is not the first time the 16 year old has found success on the mat. The Columbus High School wrestler won State his Freshmen year in the 160 lb. class, and took 2nd place as a sophomore. Wolfe hopes his success continues as his career moves forward.
