PAWNEE CITY - G Street in Pawnee City was filled with onlookers as a laundromat caught fire Sunday night.
The laundromat, located at 615 G Street, is right next to the Adobe Grille. Pawnee City Fire Chief John Vetrovsky was on the scene shortly after the fire began.
“Well, the call came in at about 7:16 and when we rolled on scene, which was a few minutes after that, heavy smoke was coming out of the back of the building and fire was rolling out of the front of the building. It was totally engulfed when we came on the scene,” said Vetrovsky.
Vetrovsky also said that the Adobe Grille had some water damage, and the other buildings next to the laundromat had some smoke damage.
Fire departments from Pawnee City, Table Rock, Dubois, Burchard, Tecumseh, and Falls City all came to help with the fire. There were also plenty of people helping out, donating food and drinks to everyone at the scene.
Currently, the cause of the fire is unknown. It is under investigation by the State Fire Marshals.
