COLUMBUS - A local man was taken to the hospital after being electrocuted Friday. The concrete pumper bumped the 7,200-volt top power line where the man was standing, as he and other employees were cementing a driveway near 113 W. Parkway. Vice President of Operations for Loup Power District, Dan Hellbusch, says the incident could have been avoided. “We tell them all the time, we beg them, call us, call us, we'll cover it up, we'll kill it, we'll de-energize it…. Osha tells them they can't get within 25 feet of it, but until they kill somebody, I don't know what they'll do,” Hellbusch says. “This is a very serious issue here.” The man was conscious as he was taken to the Columbus Community Hospital, and there is no further information at this time.
