COLUMBUS - A new city council member may soon be leading Ward 4 following a submission by the Mayor.
City officials released a statement saying Mayor Mike Moser submitted J.P. (Prent) Roth, Jr. for appointment to the seat following Terry Reardon's departure. If approved by the city council at the April 18th meeting, Roth will be sworn in May 2nd to serve the unexpired term of Reardon, who is moving outside of the Ward 4 limits.
Roth received a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kansas and a Masters in Industrial/Management Science Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He has lived in Columbus for over 40 years spending 30 of those years as an employee for NPPD.
As an active member of community, Roth is the Treasurer for Grace Church and the Columbus Tennis Association, as well as the Columbus Morning Rotary. He is also a member of the Airport Zoning Board, and says he sees this submission as an opportunity to give back to Columbus.
