Last night on Comedy Central's “@midnight,” comedian Chris Hardwick gave voice to those deriding the design of Nebraska's new standard license plate.
The plate, which Gov. Pete Ricketts unveiled earlier this week, shows the Sower, a statue atop the State Capitol, pulling grain from a pouch and throwing it.
Some critics have said, um, that that's not what it looks like at all.
Before commenting on the plate, Hardwick started the bit by saying, "I'd like to take a minute to talk about one of the greatest states in our fair union. Yeah! Nebraska!"
"It ranks 43rd in population density nationwide," he said, "but ranks first in population density right here in my heart, where it counts."
When the plate design was brought up on screen, Hardwick responded in mock outrage: "They chose Myriad Pro Black for the font!? Real original."
Then he gave a rather colorful description of the Sower that we won't repeat here, in text anyway.
