COLUMBUS- The 7th annual Sundaes in the Square welcomes the community in support of an important cause. Sundaes in the Square raises money for the Child Abuse Prevention Council of Columbus, which is aimed at making Columbus a safer, violent-free community. Director of Connect Columbus, Tammy Bichlmeier, serves ice-cream Saturday morning as apart of providing support to the council in hopes of educating families on different protective services in the community. “We've had so many families come down over the years, and they start to look forward to the event. It's been just great for us because we know that we are connecting with families and giving them a lot of information,” Bichlmeier says. “It's just a time that families can come down and have a wonderful experience without a lot of cost. So it's just been an awesome experience for all of us involved in the council.” Bichlmeier encourages that any victim of abuse should report the incident to a caring and trusting individual as well as contact services available such as the Center for Survivors hotline at 402-564-2155 or Nebraska Child Protective Services hotline at 1-800-652-1999.
