An explosion last night at a camper in Chautauqua Park in Beatrice sent three people to a Lincoln hospital with critical injuries.
Heather Newton lives in a camper next to the one that blew up. She and the people injured work at the new Duonix biodiesel plant.
"It was just a big boom, that was it," Newton says. "It wasn't on fire, it just exploded, so that was a blessing. It didn't stay on fire."
Newton says she was not related to the people in the trailer, but said the co-workers are like family. Newton says the blast shook her camper.
"It was so hot, I felt the heat on the floor of my trailer," she says.
An investigator with the Nebraska Fire Marshal's office is trying to determine the cause of the blast. One possibility being checked out was that a new fuel tank had just been installed at the camper.
The victims' names were not released.
