COLUMBUS - A Columbus man faces 18 to 20 years in prison after being sentenced in Platte County District Court Friday morning.
20-year-old Chase Micklevitz faces a minimum 18 years to a maximum 20 years in prison, after being sentenced in Platte County District Court Friday morning for Felony Manslaughter. Micklevitz's charges of 2nd Degree Murder and use of a deadly weapon to commit a Felony were amended to Felony Manslaughter, a class 3 Felony, following a plea deal.
The charges stem from an incident that took place on July 30, 2014, that resulted in the death of Micklevitz's grandmother, after 58-year-old Deanna Micklevitz was stabbed to death in the home she shared with her grandson.
Micklevitz has been given credit for 367 days previously served.
