COLUMBUS - A Columbus woman has pled guilty to multiple felony charges after writing over $1,000 in forged checks.
According to court documents 34-year-old Sarah Martinez has changed her plea from not guilty to guilty in Platte County District Court for one count of Felony Forgery and one county of Criminal impersonation. Martinez was arrested after allegedly writing twelve forged checks to Hy-vee between July 19th and July 26th of this year. The checks written to Hy-vee totaled $1,064.11.
The affidavit states Martinez admitted to writing forged checks to Valentino's and a neighboring nail spa as well.
Both of the charges against Martinez are Class 3 Felonies, which means she can face a maximum 40 years in prison. Martinez is scheduled to be sentenced on November 20th at 10:00 a.m. in Platte County District Court.
