City Council Holds Public Hearing for Dodge County Boundary Adjustment

FREMONT - Tuesday evening's City Council meeting conducted a public hearing for the approval of a boundary line adjustment of property in Saunders and Douglas County from the City's extraterritorial jurisdiction. Mayor Scott Getzschman says through collaboration with the city planner it was determined that the City was enforcing codes and ordinances in Saunders County such as the Woodcliff Restaurant on 980 County Rd. W., which is a Fremont address. Dodge County was only enforcing codes and ordinances of the southern boundary of Woodcliff, which Getzschman says didn't make sense because the City would never annex Woodcliff. “We really felt the best way to handle that would be to retract our boundaries to the Dodge County line, which is the Platte River, and in those cases we would let Saunders County come back in and begin to enforce their codes and ordinances for those areas.” After the public hearing, the council will have three hearings on the ordinance to make the final change. “To have clarity and to take confusion away from people, it just makes sense to let Saunders County handle all of their code enforcement in Saunders County and we will handle ours in Dodge County and that will mean instead of our two-mile ring extending into Saunders County it will stop at the Platte River. “
